Lazy Sunday

Today Ryden and I had a wonderfully lazy day. We woke up around 8AM. We had oatmeal with currants and lots of brown sugar for breakfast. I made coffee, Ryden had orange juice. We finally ordered a monorail car for the Rokenbok set. Ryden did a little Everyday Math exercises. He counted all the different measuring tools and devices in the house. It was fun to go through the house and discover all  the scales, measuring cups, rulers, medicine cups and temperature gauges we have.

We worked briefly on Valentines Day cards in the basement. He is also working on a series of encaustic panels which he explained will be a series that he would like to display together (okay, I don't know where he got the concept of doing series, but I was interested). I won't post photos until he is done. :-)

After lunch, we played a variety of games in the backyard (soccer and tag) which then moved to the front yard and ended with a game of mini football. My arms served as the goal posts for his goal kicks. We came inside and I made a yummy concoction of lemon juice, orange juice, (psst, yes carrot juice by Ry doesn't know), water and honey. Then we had some quiet time. I got on the computer for a bit while Ryden worked on building a miniature 'factory' out of various LEGO parts and a rubber band.

We went to Taco Guaymas at 5:30 for dinner. Ryden asked if we could get up early tomorrow so we had some time to play before school.

Ryden Show n Tell of Stuffed Toys

Ryden's teacher had each child bring in one of their favorite stuffed toys to school. Ryden brought "Chaplin" the stuffed version of our kitty Chaplin at home.

Playdate with Joseph

After school Ryden had fun running around the play area in front of the classrooms. He and his buddies were playing hide and seek.

Our neighbor Joseph came over after school for a playdate. I put out a snack of carrots and dip and was surprised to see them both eat, well, one carrot slice each. Success.

I set up the dining room table to do water color painting. Joseph took his home, but Ryden's has a lot going on, very neat to see his drawing change over time.
